A marriage made in… well it certainly wasn’t in Heaven – when Harley Davidson was under the ownership of AMF ( yes, the bowling ally people !) management wanted to expand the range into small capacity motorcycles – just like those Japanese manufacturer’s, who were scooping up new riders in their droves.
So Harley bought an Italian manufacturer called Aermacchi – resulting in a host of new small capacity road and trail bikes, all branded Harley Davidson.
While the venture wasn’t paved with riches for Harley, today these little Harley Davidson’s and none the less genuine and sought after collectables.
The SS250 has a single cylinder two stroke engine – this example has only covered 983 miles.
